Maintenance Guidelines

While the Fire Safety Stick is highly durable and requires no professional servicing throughout its 15-year shelf life, we do recommend regular maintenance checks to ensure it remains in optimal condition.

Fire Safety Stick Maintenance Steps

1. Check the Striker Cap

  • Ensure the bottom striker cap is still in place. It can occasionally go missingโ€”either from someone handling the unit or in environments with heavy vibration.
  • If the cap is missing, replacements are available. Please specify whether you need one for the FSS50 or FSS100 model, as the cap sizes differ.
  • For added security, you may consider fitting a tamper tag to help keep the striker cap in place.

2. Inspect the Abrasive Surface on the Striker Cap

  • The striker capโ€™s abrasive (red/brown) surface should be dry to the touch. If it shows signs of moistureโ€”such as from condensationโ€”remove the cap and leave it in a warm, dry room for approximately 24 hours to allow it to fully dry.
  • If the abrasive surface appears damaged or compromised, you can order a replacement here.

3. Examine the Black Resin Under the Top Cap

  • The black resin seal under the top cap should remain firm and intact.
  • Over time and in extreme conditions, it may become soft. To test this, gently press on it with the pad of your fingertipโ€”do not use a fingernail or sharp object, as this may damage the resin.
  • If the resin feels soft, bring the unit indoors and allow it to sit at room temperature for around 24 hours. It should naturally re-harden.

Important Note on Resin Damage

  • Avoid using sharp objects, including fingernails, to probe or test the resin, as this can cause it to be accidentally removed or damaged.
