Fire Safety in the Countryside
Today, the Great British Countryside poses a wide range of fire risks affecting Agriculture, Equestrian facilities and more generally outdoor leisure activities – especially with the increasing frequency of extreme weather events such as heatwaves. These risks can be tricky to guard against with traditional extinguishers: As well as their bulky size, you need to know which extinguisher to use on different types of fire, otherwise you could be putting yourself in harm’s way. And let’s not forget, they all need annual servicing to ensure they are fit for purpose if they are ever called into action. Fires in the countryside can lead to damaged machinery or buildings, lost crops, threat to life or livestock and of course lost revenue. In 2019 alone, £19 million was paid out on fire-related claims by one rural insurer.
The Fire Safety Stick is the ideal solution: Not only is it environmentally friendly, it is also safe for people and livestock and will not damage machinery or property. Fire Safety Stick is small and light enough to be held in one hand, weighing in at only 216g. It doesn’t need any servicing and it works on all major fire classes. With a shelf life of 15 years, it’s a remarkable solution over traditional extinguishers. Coming in two options (50 seconds and 100 seconds) Fire Safety Stick has at least a 100% longer discharge time when compared to traditional extinguishers. In fact, depending on the model, it is actually much longer. For example, a 1kg Powder is just 7 seconds, whereas the FSS50 Fire Safety Stick is over 50 seconds. Fire Safety Stick also has durability like no other: You can drop it, drill it, cut it and still extinguish a fire. So, despite the roughs and bumps of business, life and leisure in the countryside you can rely on your Fire Safety Stick should you need it. As an upgrade to the basic Fire Safety Stick, we’ve developed a special Agricultural package that provides the Fire Safety Stick with a tamper tag, which ensures security for the striker cap in high traffic areas, areas accessible to the public or bumpy vehicles, plus an additional clamp to provide for improved mounting options in the cab of any vehicle.
How It Works
The Fire Safety Stick (FSS) is a manual, portable fire extinguishing device. It uses a tested and proven technology, created for the space programme, that fights fires on the molecular level. By chemically interrupting the chain of combustion, the Fire Safety Stick safely and effectively puts out fires with no toxic or damaging messy residue.
Fire Safety Stick is composed of stable, solid minerals; it does not contain gas and is not pressurised. The aerosol-like jet is only produced when the charger is struck with its base, triggering a chemical reaction. The jet produced is free of thrust, emitting a harmless gas that is already present in the atmosphere. This gas binds to the oxygen surrounding the fire, thereby capturing it and rendering it unavailable to feed the fire’s chain of combustion (without affecting the breathing ability of anyone in the vicinity). This unique formulation makes it effective in hard-to-reach areas that are difficult to access with traditional extinguishers.
